Debunking the Myths: 2 Questions You May Have for NXT
During our beginning, there were two common questions we were asked from the athletes we met with. We thought it would be helpful to share the two most common misconceptions athletes might perceive about NXT.
#1: “Does NXT care more about your post career than your playing career?”
The answer to this is simple – the best path to a great post career, is to HAVE a great playing career. We know this. Our first priority is to represent our athletes and help them have the best and longest possible career that they can.
The average age of an NHL player is 27 – and one of longest playing careers in history was by a defenseman who played until he was well into his 40’s. Our point is this – even if you play until you’re 45, you still have a lot of years left to live after your career is over. And no matter how much financial security you may have gained over those years, your days after playing will still need to be filled with purpose.
We don’t expect you to know exactly what your days will look like after hockey. However, we do want to provide you with the right resources to set yourself up properly – so that when the next chapter does come, it’s not met with fear or doubt, but excitement and content.
#2: “Can I trust a new agency with my next contract?”
We founded this agency because we have stood in your shoes. Through our extensive industry relationships and research, we know what works, and what doesn’t. We are confident that our negotiations, combined with your on-ice performance, will lead to the best possible results.
Through the personal experiences of each NXT player agent, we’re confident to say that we have established the appropriate relationships among the professional levels as well as the NHLPA in order to facilitate successful contract negotiations.
Along with our own established relationships, we’ve also collaborated with a well-respected, long-time NHLPA certified agent with over 30 years of experience, who will provide an added layer of protection for more complicated negotiations and contract situations.
We strive to become the agency we wanted when we played, an agency made for players, by players.
